Where The Heights, NJ Meets Quality Cannabis
Perched on the bluffs above the Hudson, The Heights, NJ holds one of the best vantage points in the whole region. The elevated streets, the mix of longtime residents and new arrivals, and the easy connection down into the rest of Jersey City make this neighborhood a place with its own character. If you call this corner of town home, finding reliable, high-quality cannabis should not mean guessing or settling. That is where we come in.
Village Brands Dispensary operates out of Hoboken, a quick hop from The Heights, which puts us within easy reach for anyone in the neighborhood looking for a dispensary that treats both the product and the person with care. We are the answer when you search for a “Dispensary Near Me” or “Weed Near Me” and want more than a sterile transaction. We built this shop to feel like a destination, not a stopover, and our proximity to The Heights means you get all of that without a long trip.
Not Your Ordinary Flower Shop
We like to say we are “Not Your Ordinary Flower Shop,” and we mean it. The phrase is a wink, but it also captures how we approach the work. Every item that lands on our shelves earns its place. We do not stock products just to fill space or chase a trend. Instead, we taste, test, and vet selections so that what you find in our store reflects genuine quality and a clear sense of experience.
This careful curation is the backbone of everything we do. When a customer from The Heights walks in or places an order, we want them to trust that the flower, the edibles, and the concentrates all meet a standard we are proud to stand behind. Big corporate chains often lose that personal touch. We take the opposite path. We are multi-state in reach, but the feeling inside our store is “home to you.” That difference matters, especially in a tight-knit neighborhood where word travels and reputation is everything.
The Story Behind Village Brands Dispensary
Our roots run deep. It all began with Viola Brands, a company founded in 2011 by Dan and Al Harrington. Al is a former NBA player who spent time with the Denver Nuggets, but the real origin of the brand is personal. Al’s grandmother, Viola, was living with glaucoma and high blood pressure. Al tried to convince her to give cannabis a chance. She was hesitant at first, but once she tried it, she saw changes almost immediately. That moment inspired the name and the mission.
From those first sales in 2011, serving people living with cancer and HIV, Viola Brands grew into the recreational market in Colorado, then expanded to Oregon, and since 2020 has launched in more than twelve markets, including Canada. Along the way, the founders focused on building generational wealth in Black and brown communities. In 2019, Dan created Village Brands Dispensary, which started by acquiring licenses in limited-market states and opened up the retail side of the business. The name comes from the saying “It takes a village to raise a child,” a nod to the idea that community and connection are at the center of what we do. You will find Viola Brands products on our shelves, carrying that same legacy forward.
